Luister naar nieuwe Mura Masa en Slowthai track: ‘Deal Wiv It’

Mura Masa teasede de samenwerking op twitter en schreef: “Deal Wit It with @slowthai new track from my upcoming album R.Y.C and official video coming this Thursday.”

De bijbehorende videoclip toont Slowthai (echte naam Tyron Frampton) die in slow-mo rond een woonwijk rent voordat hij in een cabriolet met Mura Masa (Alex Crossan) springt.

Het vrolijke nummer, dat met Frampton’s spoken-word stijl enigszins doet denken aan The Streets, heeft een aantal scherpe lijnen, waaronder: “People say they’re busy / Well, f*ck off!”

Mura Masa onthulde eerder dit jaar dat zijn nieuwe album een door rock beïnvloed geluid zal hebben. Hij zei: “I’m sort of making a guitar album in a way. There’s a really interesting intersection where it used to be garage bands and now it’s internet bands, and that’s the new DIY. So yeah I’m kind of going down that way.”

De producer onthulde ook dat het volgende album helemaal klaar is. Hij zei: “There’s some quite surprising ones…some amazing UK artists and some American artists, a lot of indie and rock people. I’m looking forward to surprising a bit!”

Ondertussen heeft Slowthai onlangs gesproken over zijn “hartverscheurende” beslissing om zich terug te trekken uit zijn aanstaande support slot op Liam Gallagher’s herfsttournee.

De controversiële, door Mercury genomineerde, rapper zou de voormalige Oasis-frontman vergezellen tijdens zijn solo-optredens in november. Later bleek echter dat hij zich had afgemeld voor de shows om in plaats daarvan met Brockhampton op tour te gaan in de VS.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to meet Liam, so it was heartbreaking to do that,” vertelde hij aan Q in een nieuw interview. “I didn’t want it to be like I was messing everything up, but I gotta think of the grand scheme of things… it made a lot of sense.”
